El INIA ha llevado adelante iniciativas innovadoras junto al sector productivo y sus gremiales tendientes a brindar nuevas herramientas para la mejora genética animal. El Banco de ADN Genómico Animal es una iniciativa establecida en conjunto con la Asociación Rural del Uruguay (ARU) con el objetivo de conservar el material genético de ovinos y bovinos de nuestro país para su utilización en actuales y futuros proyectos de investigación y selección genómica. En forma complementaria, el INIA junto al Instituto Nacional de Mejoramiento Lechero (INML) y la Universidad de la República (UDELAR) a través de la Facultad de Veterinaria (FV) establecieron un convenio para la concreción de un Banco de ADN lechero, contribuyendo a brindar un mayor alcance a la conservación de material genético valioso existente en el país. |
