Resumen: Presenta los resultados del análisis de la información correspondiente a 9 años de funcionamiento de la Central de Pruebas de Toros Hereford de Kiyú, que incluyen 1463 ingresos. El objetivo fue el de clasificar las causas de eliminaciones y muertes. Se registraron 63 casos de eliminaciones por causas diversas. Fuera de los rechazos por conformación, los problemas de extremidades y lesiones penianas fueron los de mayor importancia. Se registraron 45 muertes totalizando un 3.1 por ciento de la población ingresada destacándose como causa principal la de meteorismo con un 48.9 por ciento de los casos. Por medio del exámen de aptitud reproductiva fueron eliminados 38 toros, un 2.6 por ciento de los ingresos, sin encontrarse una causa que tuviera preeminencia sobre otras. |
